Numbers: from zéro to deux mille
Counting in French, with the Belgian septante and nonante next to the French soixante-dix and quatre-vingt-dix. Both are right.
You can start here straight away: you need nothing before this.
Why
At the market in Namur the seller says: Ça fait septante-cinq euros. At a market in Lille you hear soixante-quinze euros for the same amount. How much do you have to pay?
You hear numbers everywhere: prices, house numbers, phone numbers, the platform of your train, the year in a history lesson. If you recognise them quickly, you miss nothing.
In Belgium people count differently from France. Septante-cinq and soixante-quinze are both 75. You learn the Belgian form, and you recognise the French one when you go to Paris or Lille.
