Possessives: mon, ma, mes
My, your, his: mon, ton, son. The form follows the thing you own, not the owner: sa maison is his house or her house.
Why
Léa talks about her father and says son père. Hugo talks about his mother and says sa mère. Is Léa wrong because she is a girl?
You talk about your family, your things and your friends every day: mon frère, ma chambre, mes amis. For that you need possessives.
Léa is right. In French you look at the word that follows: père is masculine, so son. Whether the owner is a boy or a girl makes no difference. That is the biggest trap for Dutch speakers.
