Asking questions

You can ask one question three ways: with your voice (Tu viens ?), with est-ce que (Est-ce que tu viens ?) or with inversion (Viens-tu ?). Plus the question words.

First stage of secondary school12 to 14 yearsDraft: Not yet checked by a French teacher.

Why

You are at a campsite in Provence next to a French family. How do you ask where they live and whether they are going to the beach tomorrow?

You can keep it very simple: Vous habitez où ? Vous allez à la plage demain ? With est-ce que it sounds a little neater: Est-ce que vous allez à la plage demain ?

Asking questions is the fastest way to keep a conversation going. With a handful of question words (où, quand, comment, pourquoi, qu'est-ce que) you get a long way.
